Morning Study:
Text: Psalm 91
Questions:
- What promise does the Psalmist make to the one who dwells in the shelter of the Most High? Verse two says that our refuge is the God in whom we trust. Why is trust so necessary to find refuge in God?
- Of all the promises God makes in this Psalm, what is the most important to you right now?
- In verse 14, why does God say he will rescue us? What does it mean to acknowledge God’s name?
Prayer Focus: Pray for the poor of our world who lack access to the basic necessities for healthy life, and pray for those who are working to make a difference in this problem.
Evening Study:
Evening: Romans 6:1-11
Questions:
- What would make someone think that grace gives us the freedom to sin without fear? How does Paul respond to this idea?
- Why does Paul say we were buried with Christ through baptism into his death?
- Why was our old self crucified with Christ? What does that mean?
- What does Paul challenge us to do in verse 11? What does that verse mean? What would your brand new life look like if you obeyed?
Prayer focus: Pray today for those whose lives have been turned upside down and placed in danger by violence and war. Pray also for those who are working to alleviate the suffering caused by war and violence.
