Later this month, Outreach Films will release a new movie called “To Save A Life.”  It tells the story of how God works in the midst of a personal tragedy to transform a young man, a youth group and a community.

Jake Taylor has it all. He’s got lots of friends,a basketball scholarship, and a girlfriend too. What he doesn’t have is time for his elementary school friend, Roger.

Roger, rejected, lonely and left out eventually comes to school with pain in his heart and a gun in his pocket, and makes a tragic decision.  Jake’s world is turned upside down as he begins asking himself the question: “Could I have saved Roger?” and he embarks on a quest to make sure this kind of tragedy never happens again.

It’s a good movie with an important message, and we’re going to make the most of it.  Here’s how you can get involved in the To Save a Life campaign at Water’s Edge:

First, See the Movie:

We want as many students and their parents to see this movie as possible.  To make that happen, we’ve sought the support of some generous donors to make available to you a free screening of this movie at Mounds Mall 10 Theatre.  Did I say free?

That’s right on Sunday, January 31, 2010 Water’s Edge and the Middletown Church of the Nazarene will be hosting a private screening of this movie for the people of our church and their guests.  The movie will start at 1:40 pm. You can pick up a voucher for your free ticket on Tuesday nights at Water’s Edge, after school at the Cove, or on Sunday morning in the main foyer.

But seating is limited.  The one thing we ask is that if you take a voucher, you commit to coming to the movie so that we don’t have to turn others away even though we have empty seats.  What’s more, we want you to pick up free vouchers for your friends so they can go with you, but please, make sure they are committed to coming before you take a voucher.

Join A LifeGroup:

Starting on Sunday, February 7th, To Save a Life will be coming to Youth Bible Fellowship on Sunday mornings.  We’ll meet each Sunday morning in the small sanctuary at 9:15 SHARP. There’s too much happening to start late.  We’ll have food, games, and worship as well as be watching clips from the movie and talking about the important lessons we can learn from it.  The movie is good, but the LifeGroups on Sunday mornings are vital if you want to get the most out of To Save a Life.

Get a Devo2Go:

Along with the movie and LifeGroups, there is also a personal daily Bible Study like the one featured in the movie.  It features an audio guide narrated by Josh Weigel who plays Chris, the youth pastor in the movie.  There’s also a companion journal which you can complete either in print or on your computer.  You can order your Devo2Go for To Save a Life from http://devo2go.com
